Posology

Vitamin D deficiency in adolescents, adults and the elderly:
(serum levels <25 nmol/l (<10 ng/ml)) 1 capsule (3,200 IU) daily for up to 12 weeks dependent upon the severity of the disease and the patient's response to treatment.

During pregnancy and breast-feeding
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency:
1 capsule (3,200 IU) daily.

Fultium-D3 should not be used in children under the age of 12.

Qualitative and quantitative composition

Each capsule contains:

3,200 IU Colecalciferol (equivalent to 80 micrograms vitamin D3).

Posology

Paediatric population
Prevention of vitamin D deficiency 12-18 years:

20,000 IU (1 capsule) every 6 weeks.

Treatment of vitamin D deficiency 12-18 years:
20,000 IU (1 capsule) once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks.

Adults:
Prevention of vitamin D deficiency:
20,000 IU/month (1 capsule), higher doses may be required in certain situations, please refer to full SmPC.

Treatment of vitamin D deficiency: 40,000 IU/week (2 capsules) for 7 weeks, followed by maintenance therapy (equivalent to 1,400-2,000 IU/day, such as 2-3 capsules per month, may be required.

Fultium-D3 20,000 IU Capsules should not be given to children under 12 years due to the risk of choking.

Vitamin D insufficiency in adults and the elderly:
(serum levels 25 – 50 nmol/l (10-20 ng/mL)
AND long term maintenance therapy following treatment of deficiency in adults and the elderly AND Prevention of vitamin D deficiency 1-2 Capsules (800-1600 IU) daily.

Vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency in children over 12 years:
1 capsule daily depending on the severity of the disease and the patient's response to treatment. Should only be given under medical supervision.

As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis:
1 capsule daily.

During pregnancy and breast-feeding
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency:
1 – 5 capsules (800 – 4000 IU) daily.

Long term maintenance therapy following treatment of deficiency:
1 – 2 capsules (800 – 1600 IU) daily.

Fultium-D3 should not be used in children under 12 years.

Children aged 2 years to 11 years
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency:
6 – 30 drops (400 – 2,000 IU) daily. Long term maintenance therapy following treatment of deficiency AND Prevention of vitamin D deficiency 6 – 15 drops (400 – 1,000 IU) daily.

Adolescents aged 12 years to 18 years
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency:
6 – 60 drops (400 – 4,000 IU) daily. Long term maintenance therapy following treatment of deficiency AND Prevention of vitamin D deficiency 6 – 24 drops (400 – 1,600 IU) daily.

Adult posology
Adults and the elderly:
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency 12 – 60 drops (800 – 4,000 IU) daily. Long term maintenance therapy following treatment of deficiency AND Prevention of vitamin D deficiency 12 – 24 drops (800 – 1,600 IU) daily. As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis 12 drops (800 IU) daily.

1ml oral solution contains: 2,740 IU Colecalciferol (equivalent to 68.5 micrograms/ml vitamin D3)
